• What is CODE27?

  CODE27 is a dedicated device that allows virtual companions called Codies to live alongside you. Your Codie has their own body and voice, lives in their own 3D room, sees and hears you through a camera and microphones, and remembers you over time. They walk around their room, work on tasks, react to your tone, and write a Diary entry every night in their own voice.
  
  

• Is CODE27 available globally?

  Yes, CODE27 will be shipped worldwide. Please be aware that shipping may be restricted or subject to additional fees for APO/FPO military addresses, remote locations, or sensitive destinations. If your address falls into any of these categories, our customer service team (service@code27.co) will reach out to discuss address updates, and additional costs, or to arrange for a cancellation or refund if shipping cannot be completed.
  
  

• Can it recognize objects?

  The recognition ability mainly relies on the capabilities of multimodal AI. CODE27 is able to identify different objects and things, which depend on the parameters of the AI model's training. With continuous updates, it will be able to recognize an increasing number of objects.
  
  

• Who makes the characters and voices?

  Characters are hand-crafted by real illustrators and 3D artists. Animations are performed by real motion-capture actors and refined by our animation team. Voicebanks are recorded and licensed directly from real performers, with their consent and proper compensation.
  
  

• Is CODE27 like Alexa or HomePod?

  A smart speaker like Alexa or HomePod plays a voice from a face-less assistant. CODE27 has a 10.1-inch holographic-like display showing a 3D character with their own room, animations, and emotional expressions, plus a 2.8-inch secondary touchscreen to navigate and confirm actions. Conversations are face-to-face, not voice-only. Every Codie is a hand-crafted character, not a default assistant persona.
  
  

• Do I need a PC or Mac for CODE27 to work?

  No. CODE27 has its own onboard processor and runs everything itself. Plug it in, connect to Wi-Fi, and it works. There is no tethering to a computer, no USB cable to your gaming PC, and no software to install on another device.
  
  

• Does CODE27 need an internet connection?

  Yes, for the cloud services that power conversation. We use our own cloud. Bring-your-own-model support, including local-only options, is on our roadmap.
  
  

• How does voice customization work?

  You can customize your Codie's voice with the following options: Custom Voices: A voice cloning tool in the Web client, allows users to upload voice clips. For best results, ensure the clip is clear and uninterrupted by other speakers. After training, you’ll be able to get the desired voice for your character. Preset Voices: A variety of preset voices for different character types will be available.
  
  

• How is my privacy protected?

  Your Codies, memories, and Diaries are stored on the device with AES-256 encryption. The included snap-on camera cover physically blocks the lens when not in use. Cloud requests use session-specific authentication. You set your own safety preferences within the bounds of applicable law.
  
  

• Can I use my own characters?

  Yes. Drop in any VRM model. Build your own in VRoid Studio, in Blender with the VRM Add-on, or in Unity with UniVRM. Download one from VRoid Hub or Booth. Or commission a custom VRM. Then write their backstory and choose a voice from our licensed voicebank library.
  
  

• How long does setup take?

  About five minutes. Scan the QR code printed inside the box, plug in the included power adapter, connect to your Wi-Fi network, and one of our Original Codies will greet you on screen. No installation wizards, no fiddling required.
  
  

• What languages does CODE27 support?

  English, Japanese, and Mandarin Chinese at launch. Korean, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese are coming soon.
  
  

• What is the warranty period for CODE27?

  We provide a 1-year warranty for customers in non-European regions and a 2-year warranty for customers in European countries. The warranty covers any non-human-induced repairs and includes expert guidance and assistance for inquiries during the warranty period. Please be aware that the warranty duration complies with the consumer laws applicable in the country where the product is purchased.
